Fluke Networks MS2-FTK MicroScanner2 Copper and Fiber Basic Technician's Kit
The Fluke Networks MS2-FTK Microscanner2 basic technician's kit includes a Microscanner2 cable verifier and a SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter to verify cable functioning of new and existing copper and fiber network installations. The meter displays a graphical wiremap, cable length, cable ID, and distance-to-fault. A tone generator produces digital and og signals to locate cable or wire pairs. Digital mode locates high-grade cabling, including Category 5e, Category 6, and Category 6a in bundles or at switches, patch panels, and wall outlets. Analog mode verifies Category 3 and below voice-grade cabling, coax, security, alarm, and speaker wiring. VDV service detection verifies media services, including powered 10/100/1000 Ethernet switches, plain old telephone services (POTS) voltage and polarity, and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) voltage and pairs. A backlit LCD is oversized for clear viewing in a variety of lighting levels, and a rubber holster protects the meter in rugged environments. Copper and fiber testers used by network technicians to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize performance of copper and fiber optic cabling, hardw connections, and network settings in enterprise networks.
The Fluke Networks FTK1000 fiber optic cable test kit includes a SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter with a multimode light source to measure power and loss using dual-wavelength testing which simultaneously transmits 850 and 1,300nm wavelengths for verification of cabling in multimode fiber networks. The meter is also calibrated for 1,310, 1,490, 1,550, and 1,625nm wavelengths to measure single-mode cabling when paired with a single-mode light source (sold separately). A minimum and maximum function tracks power fluctuations and a reference value can be set to enable a direct display of fiber loss. The meter's internal memory stores up to 1,000 test results, and those results can be downloaded via the meter's USB 2.0 interface to a computer for long-term records retention, or for ysis and generation of certification reports using the included LinkW softw. The softw is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, and 7 operating systems. The meter emits an audible tone and displays an icon when a live link or port is detected. Test results displayed on a black and white LCD that has a backlight for visibility in low light. The meter can be set to turn off automatically after 10, 20, 30, or 60 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life. Additional specifications include power measurement accuracy of + or – 0.25dB and various environmental operating conditions. In addition to the SimpliFiber Pro meter with multimode light source, the kit includes an SC power meter adapter, a USB interface cable, LinkW PC softw CD, SimpliFiber Pro product manuals CD, batteries for each device, a carrying case, and instructions.

A copper cable tester is a device for troubleshooting, inspecting, and certifying copper network cabling. Devices range from one-on tools for checking connectivity to complex tools for certifying network installations. Three types of testing include verification, to test whether a connection or cable is functioning correctly; qualification, to test a network's ability to support specific speeds and functionality; and certification, to verify whether a network installation meets industry standards. Cabling contractors, installers, and network technicians use copper cable testers to set up and maintain networks within a building or on a campus in corporate, academic, manufacturing, and other enterprise network environments.
Fluke Networks, a division of Fluke Corporation, manufactures tools and softw for network deployment, performance management, and troubleshooting. The company, founded in 1992, is headquartered in Everett, WA.
